CAT Conversations: CALL FOR NOMINATIONS

The editors of The Canadian Art Teacher (Marie-France Bérard and Amy Atkinson), in collaboration with the Canadian Society for Education through Art (CSEA), are launching a new initiative called CAT Conversations—and they’re looking for educators like you (or someone you know!) to be involved.

What’s It About?Twice a year, CAT Conversations will bring together five art educators from different provinces/territories to share their thoughts, experiences, and insights in a relaxed, online conversation. This is a chance to amplify teachers’ voices and celebrate the meaningful work happening in classrooms across the country.
What Do Participants Receive? Each selected participant will be:
  • Recognized as a provincial/territorial award winner
  • Given a cash honorarium
  • Sent a formal letter of recognition from the CSEA President (which can also be addressed to their administrator)
  • Offered an optional mentorship to help turn their story into a published article in The Canadian Art Teacherjournal

First CAT Conversation:
October 16th at 4 PM (Pacific Time)
Presentations can be formal or informal (like a great staffroom chat!) and are 10–15 minutes long, with time for Q&A from the audience. The next conversation is Spring 2026. You will be chosen to participate in one of these!

Know someone who should be part of this? You can nominate a colleague or yourself using this short form:  Nominee Form
Please submit your nomination by Oct 8, 2025.

We acknowledge that in the land colonially known as Saskatchewan we create and educate on Treaty Territory, which the peoples of the Nêhiyawak, Nêhithawak, Nêhinawak, Anihšināpēk, Dene, Dakota, Lakota and Nakota nations have cared for over generations. This land is also the traditional homeland of the Métis people. We aim to create together with all Indigenous people in the spirit with which the Treaties were written. We extend this same commitment to all Indigenous peoples throughout Canada.
